Lyme, Connecticut was the first recognized location of the dreaded disease. An unusual outbreak of arthritis in 1975 sparked the first real concern for the disease in the United States. During the ‘90’s many Connecticut residents became very concerned with Lyme disease and the demand for tick control expanded, creating Fairfield County Tick Control.

Most humans are infected with Lyme disease by the bites of infected immature deer ticks- nymphs. Nymphs can be very small and extremely difficult to see. Adult ticks can spread the disease but they are typically larger and more easily spotted.*

If you suspect you’ve been bitten by a tick, note the date and location of the suspected bite and monitor the area. Symptoms of Lyme disease can appear within weeks or years after an infected bite. Contact your healthcare professional with any medical concerns.*
